Why Europe Rocks: Reason #16

I can't believe no one laughed at that... [inspired by Hannah's Noah joke story and the last Velka Porada]

Maybe this isn't about Europe.
Maybe this is about me.

Okay, in language learning it's pretty much a given that the final frontier is truly understanding humor. (Bread thinks it's the post office, and I've wondered if it isn't the evening news, but everyone else says it's humor so I'll bow to the majority just this once...) So, you would think that before one is fluent, one would refrain from attempting to make jokes, right? Right?

I'm not fluent. But that doesn't stop me. Blank stares or failed attempts also don't stop me. You know why? Because I'm dying laughing at my own joke and when no one else laughs I laugh harder. And this very event happened at the last Velka Porada (EN: Big Important Meeting). Right at the end I made a joke in Czech--I even repeated it--and no one laughed, not even a little. I translated it into English and still no one laughed. But now I laugh ever time I think about it.

Cleaning buckets!!!!
